DIY Whipped Vanilla & Coconut Body Butter

This summer heat is currently doing a number on my skin, with average temperatures being in the mid 30's our air conditioner has been running non stop which has caused my skin to dry up like a prune!

To combat my Sahara dessert skin I have been using plenty of creams and body butters, however after emptying a whole tub in one week and reading the incomprehensible ingredients list on the back of the packaging I thought it would be healthier and cheaper to make my own.

- 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
- 1 Cup Shea Butter
- 1 Cup Cocoa Butter
-1 Tsp Vanilla Essential Oil

1.) Create a double boiler by boiling a pot of water and placing a large glass bowl over the top.

2.) Add the Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter in the bowl and stir with a spoon whilst is slowly melts, be careful not to let the mixture boil.
TIP: Grating the butters will make them melt quicker.

3.) Once fully melted remove the mixture from the stove, add in the Vanilla Essential Oil and stir through.

4.) Place in the mixture in the fridge for around 20 to 25 minutes or until it begins to solidify.

5.) Whip the mixture with a electric mixer until stiff white peaks form, if the mixture is not cool enough the peaks will not form.
TIP: If the mixture is not forming peaks place back in the fridge for another 10 minutes.

6.) Carefully spoon the Whipped Body Butter into mason jars ensuring that you don't over pack the jars.

This recipe will make 2 to 3 cups and should store for around 3 months if sealed in a airtight container.

If you live in a warmer climate I would suggest storing in the fridge.
